A local technological firm has formulated a strategy to decongest Harare with expectations that authorities will embrace the technology-based strategy.

Congestion during peak hours in Harare has for some time now posed a headache to both motorists and the Harare City Council.
As part of the response strategy, a local technological firm has come up with a plan to decongest the capital city by availing an application that uses the satellite to manage traffic flow.
Speaking to ZBC News on the sidelines of the future of sustainable mobility meeting in Harare on Thursday, Founder and Head of Research Power Afrika, Leonard Muyambo said smart transportation systems will help boost the country’s tourism attractiveness.

The Harare City Council Head of Research, Mrs Bridget Muyenge applauded the strategy by the local firm, saying they are considering to incorporate it into their mobility master plan.
“The upgrading of the transport systems will help to end the cat and mouse chase between the police and commuter omnibus drivers,” said Mrs Muyenge.

The local authority has on many occasions been blamed for its poor traffic control systems that have resulted in congestion during peak hours
