THE Masvingo Provincial Covid-19 taskforce has launched a fumigation programme targeting hotspots in the province.
The fumigation programme started at hotspots in Masvingo’s central business district, mainly around major supermarkets and filling stations.
The provincial Covid 19 taskforce chairperson Cde Ezra Chadzamira said after completing the hotspots within Masvingo city, they will be moving to the province’s 7 districts.
“Se Masvingo ta launcher fumigation yedu, tichishanda nema university pa programme yedu. Tichabva taenda kuma districts with the same programme,” he said.
Masvingo Polytechnic partnered with the taskforce team in producing the hydro peroxide liquid being utilised in the fumigation process.
“Isu se Masvingo polytechnic, chatinokwanisa kubatsira nacho pakurwisa covid kugadzira ma disinfectant se atinawo nhasi aya pamwechete ne protective personal equipment,” said Muzongondi
Meanwhile, Cde Chadzamira said the taskforce has since made plans to ensure residents get basic commodities like mealie meal and sugar in their areas to avoid congesting the central business district.
“Vanhu vanoterera asi dzimwe nguva vanomboda kuuya kuwanda muno mu town asi takaronga kuti zvinhu zvakaita sehupfu ne sugar zvinge zvichienda kwavari kuti vanopinda mu town vaite vashoma,” he said.
The province continues to carry out awareness campaigns on the COVID-19 pandemic, with people being urged to avoid unnecessary travel.
