Zimbabwe international Tawanda Maswanhise scored a brace as Motherwell defeated Livingston 2-0 in the Scottish Premiership, moving within two points of Celtic.
Maswanhise was clinical in a dominant first half, converting two close-range efforts.
He opened the scoring with a clever looping header over goalkeeper Jerome Prior in the far corner, connecting perfectly with a cross from Elijah Just.
In the 28th minute, Motherwell doubled their advantage when Callum Slattery played a precise through ball to Maswanhise, who opened his body and curled a right-footed shot into the net.
The forward came close to completing a first-half hat-trick but squandered two further opportunities. One chance saw him fire a tame effort well over the crossbar after racing onto a long ball.
Maswanhise currently tops the Scottish Premiership scoring charts with 13 goals, ahead of Celtic’s Benjamin Nygren and Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland, who have 11 each.
