Gokwe Nembudziya Member of Parliament Cde Justice Mayor Wadyajena (Zanu-PF) has rapped the MDC-Alliance leadership and their supporters for abusing freedom of expression.

He criticised them especially for stopping members of the public from carrying out their daily chores during the recent violent demonstration that left a trail of destruction in many cities and towns.

Addressing villagers last weekend at Nembudziya Growth Point in Gokwe, Cde Wadyajena implored law enforcement agencies to deal decisively with those behind the violence that saw several shops being looted, causing prejudice of millions of dollars to traders.

Cde Wadyajena was briefing his constituency on developments in the country that included the recent violent demonstrations in several cities.

“There are people who were stopped from carrying out their business by these violent protesters, most of whom were MDC Alliance elements,” he said. “That is an offence, a serious one for that matter, which we call upon law enforcement agencies to make thorough investigations and bring the culprits to justice.”

Cde Wadyajena said the police should rise above party politics in their execution of duty and ensure that they leave no stone unturned in their quest to have justice served.

“If it is a Zanu-PF supporter who committed an offence against their rival in MDC Alliance, they should be arrested without fear or favour notwithstanding one’s standing,” said Cde Wadyajena.

“We have noted that the violence was fuelled by MDC Alliance, including influential members of the opposition whom I sit with in Parliament and even others in the portfolio committee that I chair.”
