Three MDC Alliance Councillors in Kwekwe have defected to the MDC faction led by Khupe, New Ziana reports. According to the publication, both parties have confirmed the development.
MDC-T’s Rita Munyorovi-Svova who is the secretary for women’s assembly in Mbizo district reportedly confirmed that councillors from Ward 1, 11 and 12 have joined MDC T and said:
They all belong to MDC-T. In fact they must not make the mistake of following an individual (Nelson Chamisa) but should follow the party (MDC-T). People should read and understand the constitution of the MDC-T
While Dr Takavafira Zhou, the MDC-A Midlands secretary for information said they were not moved by the defection of the trio:
In politics there is freedom of association and disassociation. We don’t have any problem about them, in fact we wish them good luck. But we foresee them coming back. As MDC-A led by Nelson Chamisa, we will soldier on
Meanwhile, ZEC has invited voters aggrieved by the commission’s decision to replace MDC Alliance legislators with MDC T nominees to come forward and lodge their complaints before they go ahead and replace recalled legislators.
