MDC Alliance councillors for Mutare City have allocated themselves extra stands despite a provision in the Urban Councils’ Regulations which states that a councillor must be allocated just one stand for one term and if they are reelected they are not supposed to be allocated another stand, ZimMorning Post reports.
According to the publication, a meeting the Housing and Community Services Department last week resolved that Mutare City Councillors be given stands in the city’s plush Murambi suburb.
