Meeting Scheduled To Unpack Zimbabwe’s Agreement With Former White Farmers

A zoom meeting has been scheduled for the 10th of this month to unpack Zimbabwe’s agreement with former white farmers who lost their land during the fast track land reform programme.

The government recently agreed to a US$3.4 compensation deal, to compensate the farmers for improvements done on the farms.

The panel consists of Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube, Harry Orphanides the compensation steering committee member and Georges Van Montfort UNDP Zimbabwe resident representative.

Under the agreement, half of the sum must be paid within 12 months, with the balance payable over 48 months.

The deal has caused divisions among Zimbabweans with some saying there was no need for compensation.
