Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Public Service minister Paul Mavima has contradicted the Public Service Commission (PSC) regarding organised shopping trips to South Africa for civil servants.
While the PSC dismissed a memo suggesting the Government intended to introduce organized shopping trips to South Africa as fake, Mavima confirmed it is a workable solution which Government should plan and consult with civil servants before implementing.
Speaking to NewsDay, Mavima said:
It is a reality that we still depend on South Africa for some of our products. We are one economy. It is a short-term workable solution, which I would say requires proper planning and consultation with the civil servants before its implementation. We have to promote local products, but it is a fact that we are not yet able to comprehensively provide the needed products to our people.
