Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. THE farming town of Karoi is set for a major infrastructure boost after transport operator CAG Travellers Coach is set to construct a modern bus terminus.
This was revealed during the ongoing Mashonaland West provincial investment conference in Kariba, where several potential investors in mining, farming, tourism, energy and transport sectors are gathered to discuss investment opportunities in the province.
The conference is running under the theme Unlocking and Strengthening Provincial Sustainability.
CAG Travellers Coaches legal corporate affairs officer Elijah Tembo told participants that they had engaged Karoi Town Council for a modern bus terminus with facilities such as booking halls and bays for every transporter plying the local routes.
“Our commitment is anchored on National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) in improving the transport sector,” he said.
“We have secured all required land and paperwork for a modern bus terminus with free WiFi as part of technological innovation for everyone.
“As part of the investment drive, the terminus will be near hotels so that we modernise our transport sector.”
Added Tembo: “We are geared towards development in Karoi and the province at large. We are part of Hurungwe, the province and the country at large.”
NDS1 key objective is to achieve high-quality and efficient public transport services covering both rural and urban areas.
It also aims at improving the transport sector as a driver of economic growth in the country.
Tembo added that they diversified their operations, tapping into the country’s agricultural sector in Hurungwe district.
“As part of our multi sectoral approach, we are into commercial tobacco and maize farming under Chief Kazangarare,” he said.
“We have embarked on guava, lemon production and we have value added these through juicy production.
“It’s a diversified portfolio for the organisation. We are part of the provincial economic growth.”
In May, CAG Travellers Coaches was honoured with the 2025 Top Entrepreneur of the Year in the Transport Industry at the Global Business Achievers Network event at Rainbow Towers in Harare.
In June, it was awarded the Travellers Coaches Best Passenger Road Company of the Year at the Africa Company of the Year Awards in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution minister Mariam Chombo called for an easier way of doing business to unlock vast investment programmes and enhance economic growth from all key sectors.
