Month-on-Month Inflation Falls To 3.45 Percent

Africa-PressZimbabwe. The Zimbabwe Statistic Agency (Zimstat) has announced the Food Poverty Line (FPL) and the Total Consumption Poverty Line (TCPL) in the month of February.

The FPL for one person in February was $3 934.00 while the TCPL for one person stood at $5 187.00.

Zimstat also announced the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the Blended Consumer Price Index in the month of February 2021.

CPI is a measure of the average change over time in the prices paid by urban consumers for a market basket of consumer goods and services. Zimstat said in a statement:

The month on month inflation rate in February 2021 was 3.45 per cent shedding 1.98 percentage points on the January 2021 rate of 5.43 per cent.

The year on year inflation rate (annual percentage change) for the month of February 2021 as measured by the all items Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 321.59 per cent.

The CPI for the month ending February 2021 stood at 2, 698.89 compared to 2, 608.79 in January 2021 and 640.16 in February 2020.

The Blended Consumer Price Index, which measures the combined price changes of goods and services in both the USD and ZWL, has also fallen marginally. Zimstat said:

The month on month inflation rate in February 2021 was 0.71 per cent shedding 2.05 percentage points on the January 2021 rate of 2.76 per cent.

The year on year inflation rate (annual percentage change) for the month of February 2021 as measured by the all items blended Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 162.95 per cent.

The blended CPI for the month ending February 2021 stood at 111.30 compared to 110.52 in January 2021 and 42.33 in February 2020.
