Africa-PressZimbabwe. ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSIIED AT 1600 HRS ON SATURDAY 17 APRIL 2021 VALID UNTIL MONDAY 19 APRIL 2021.

Localized thunderstorms occurred in the southern provinces of the country. resulting in Chipinge receiving 14 mm of rainfall. At the same time, light drizzle occurred this morning over Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan, Midlands (Zvishavane to Kwekwe), Masvingo, Manicaland, southern parts of Mashonaland East (Chivhu to Marondera), and extreme southern fringes of Mashonaland West (Chibero and the surrounding area) provinces. The moisture field extended as far as Mutoko, Harare, and Chinhoyi leading to cool weather under cloudy conditions. Meanwhile. the ridge of high pressure remains relatively high over the southeast coast of the subregion. maintaining the south-easterly airflow across the country.

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, SUNDAY 18 APRIIL2021

Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan southern districts of the Midlands, Masvingo, and \lanicaland provinces: It should be cloudy with patchy morning drizzle under cool and windy conditions. Matabeleland North, northern areas of Midlands, Harare Metropolitan, and all Mashonaland provinces: It is expected to be briefly cloudy with a cool breeze dominating the day. becoming less cloudy and warm by the afternoon especially over the extreme northern areas.

IMPACTS

• These cooler weather conditions may affect the health of vulnerable members of society such as young children, elderly and ill persons.

• Temperature fluctuation negatively impact animals especially poultry.

ACTIONS TO TAKE

• Ensure vulnerable members of society are kept warm.

• Constantly monitor and regulate the temperature within the hen-house/chicken-coop/fowl-run. and ensure proper air circulation to avoid suffocating chickens.

• The main-rainfall season has now passed and winter is approaching temperature may fluctuate significantly, thus horticultural crops such as tomatoes need to be monitored and frost preventions mechanism placed on standby for any forecast eventualities.
