FORMER Zimbabwe Warriors captain Knowledge Musona has been included in the Saudi Pro League Team of the Week following his superb individual display during Al Tai’s 1-0 victory against Abha at the Prince Abdul Aziz bin Musa’ed Stadium on Thursday.

The 32-year-old former Zimbabwe international was in good form after showcasing his speed and silky skills before providing an assist to his teammate Amir Sayoud to score the decisive goal in Al Tai’s victory.

The assist was his seventh this season as he continues to flourish at Al Tai, where he is now the official club captain.

It has been a remarkable campaign for Al Tai forward Musona as he is enjoying his best season since joining the club from Belgian club Anderlecht two years ago.

The former Zimbabwe international has been a key component of an electric front line, alongside Guy Mbenza and Sayoud.

Musona’s good form is one of the main reasons why his club Al Tai is currently punching well above their weight in the Saudi Pro League.

Al Tai, who only returned to the topflight league in 2021 are currently in seventh position on the 16-team log standings with 31 points from 24 matches.

Musona retired from international football in May last year after playing for the Warriors since 2010, a period in which he featured 51 times and scored 24 goals.

It was a decision taken a few months after Khama Billiat also announced his exit from the national team.

At club level, the former Warriors hitman has featured for the South African heavyweights Kaizer Chiefs, Bundesliga side 1899 Hoffenheim, KV Oostende and Anderlecht before opting to go to Saudi Arabia to play for his current team.
