Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Newly elected MDC President Douglas Mwonzora has assumed the position of the opposition leader in the parliament’s top committee, the Standing Rules and Orders Committee, The Herald reports.
Mwonzora reportedly replaced Mutare Central legislator Mr. Innocent Gonese who has been part of the committee for a long time. The committee is responsible for setting the policies and management of Parliament
When contacted for comment Mwonzora said he was nominated last year and it was not a new development:
I was nominated late last year, but the announcement could not be made because Parliament was on recess,It is not a new or recent development.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports are saying some activists in his party are crafting a strategy to get Mwonzora arrested for misappropriating funds, reports that have been denied by his spokesperson Witness Dube.
