FORMER Cabinet Minister, Walter Mzembi’s alleged accomplices in his pending fraud case are not amused with continuous court appearance.
The case has stalled since Mzembi has remained holed up in exile.
Mzembi is jointly charged with Aaron Mushoriwa and Margaret Sangarwe, who were both his juniors during his time as a member of the Executive.
Mushoriwa and Sangarwe intend to file an application for removal from remand as it is clear the former Minister has no immediate intentions to return.
The State has indicated it will oppose the impending application.
“The prosecutor who is handling this case, Mr Vito wants to make specific submissions opposing the application,” said prosecutor George Manokore on Tuesday.
The case has been postponed several times amid claims Mzembi is struggling with his health.
Mzembi, who left government as part of the Cabinet clear out the followed the November 2017 coup is believed to be battling colon cancer.
The State has moved to demand his medical reports amid growing suspicions he could be making false claims of ailment to avoid trial.
His lawyers are yet to furnish the courts with tangible evidence the ex-MP was indeed is in poor health.
Appearing on behalf of his client, Job Sikhala told court that there was Mzembi will get back to full health anytime soon.
The ex-Cabinet Minister is accused of pocketing donations which were meant for the United Nations World Tourism Organisation when he was at the helm of the Tourism ministry.
Mzembi is among several former Cabinet Ministers linked to the infamous G40 faction within Zanu PF that was swept aside in the vicious power struggle that rocked the ruling party leading to the coup.
