Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Services Department in conjunction with the Department of Civil Protection at 4 PM on Friday 17 February 2023 valid until Sunday 19 February 2023:

The low-pressure system currently affecting the country caused widespread thunderstorms yesterday in Matabeleland, Midlands, Masvingo, and Manicaland provinces.

Areas to the north (Harare and all Mashonaland provinces) generally had light rain and showers in some places.

Rainfall amounts measured in excess of 30mm were: Binga (77mm), Matopos (67mm), Makoholi (58mm), Gweru (44mm) Bulawayo (39mm) and Masvingo (37mm).

Numerous thunderstorms are anticipated across the country with localized heavy downpours in excess of 65mm in 24 hours probable over Matabeleland North, Bulawayo Metropolitan, Matabeleland South, Midlands, Masvingo and Manicaland provinces.

Expect thunderstorms countrywide. The highest falls are anticipated in areas mainly in Matabeleland, southern parts of Midlands, Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces. It should be mild at first becoming warm in the afternoon.
