Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. PaBuja Resort, located about 25 kilometres from Mutoko Centre in Mashonaland East Province, has the potential to become a vibrant agri-tourism hub.
The 28-hectare development at Plot 12 Hoyuyu is the brainchild of Tawanda Kabasa’s Greater Valley Fresh Company.
A poultry project with more than 1,000 chicks has already been established, and fowl runs with the capacity to house over 11,000 birds are under construction.
In addition, a modern bar has been completed, while a dam currently being built will serve both irrigation and recreational purposes once finished.
Greater Valley Fresh Managing Director, Jonathan Chikasha, outlined the vision behind the project. Said Chikasha:
“We are coming from a history of land displacement during the colonial era, but now we are beneficiaries of the land reform programme.
“This has given us the opportunity to show what we can do with our land. Our investment is a testament that Africans can also use their land productively.”
Chikasha said PaBuja Resort will include horticulture, beekeeping, rabbit rearing and poultry projects, complemented by chalets for visitors who wish to enjoy the area’s tranquillity. He added:
“Our farm produce is 100 per cent organic from poultry, honey, and horticulture.
“For us to self-sustain, we must achieve food sovereignty by adopting climate-smart agriculture practices.”
Chikasha said they chose to invest in agriculture because the sector contributes four times more to GDP than most others.
He added that the resort will also serve as a platform to showcase the rich VaBuja culture. Said Chikasha:
“We take pride in our culture as VaBuja people. Visitors will experience this unique heritage and the serenity of this place while also enjoying modern amenities like Wi-Fi and television.”
PaBuja Resort is also a haven for bikers, socialites, and agri-tourists, offering campsites, open-air music concerts, draught beer, and waterfront chalets.
It also hosts snooker tournaments and runs a snooker academy, creating a unique blend of adventure, relaxation, and community spirit in a natural setting.
