Police “Investigating” ZANU PF Official Who Called For Nelson Chamisa To Be Killed

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says it is investigating the viral video inciting the killing of CCC leader Nelson Chamisa and his children that was filmed during a ZANU PF rally.

This was revealed in a letter dated 27 July 2022, addressed to human rights lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa of Mtetwa and Nyambirai Legal Practitioners by Assistant Commissioner T Mushoriwa of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID). The letter reads in part:

This department acknowledges receipt of your letter dated 25 July 2022 in connection with the above subject.

Investigations into the matter have been instituted and you will be advised of the outcome in due course.

This comes after Mtetwa this week wrote to the police, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and the National Prosecuting Authority questioning them why they had not taken action against a ZANU PF official, Abton “Bhito” Mashayanyika, who was filmed threatening Chamisa.

According to Human rights lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa, Mashayanyika is a bishop in a church called Habbakuk Apostolic Faith Mission and is from the Dlehari area of Mberengwa under Village Head Kuraicha.

Addressing supporters at Rampopo hills in Mberengwa North at an unknown date, Mashayanyika, who is a war collaborator said:

Kana ndichiti pasi naMuzorewa ndinoreva kuti ngaafe

(When I say down with Muzorewa I mean he must die).

When we say down with a witch, we mean the witch should be killed. When we say down with sellouts, we mean they should be killed and when we say down with Chamisa, we mean he should be killed.

Have you understood that? So, when I say down with them, you must respond emphatically, knowingly fully well what I mean.

Down with the CCC! Down with Chamisa! … together with his children.
