Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Police have arrested 29-year-old Tafadzwa Janyure Zimirenyika, believed to be behind a string of violent crimes that have rocked communities across Masvingo Province since 2023.
Zimirenyika was nabbed on 19 June 2025 in Ngundu following extensive investigations.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said it so far linked him to 203 cases of robbery, kidnapping, rape, theft of motor vehicles, and malicious damage to property in areas including Mwenezi, Renco, Muchakata, Ngundu, Zaka, and their surroundings.
The suspect is also implicated in a chilling murder case from earlier this month. Police allege that on 6 June 2025, he fatally struck Jacob Museva with a mattock at Lundi Business Centre in Mwenezi. Museva had reportedly attempted to intervene during a robbery in progress.
Zimirenyika has since appeared in court for initial remand and is being held in custody until 4 July 2025.
The ZRP said further investigations are underway and has pledged to keep the public informed as the case develops.
