Prevail Group Aims for August Parirenyatwa Refurbishment

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Special Adviser to the President on Monitoring the Implementation of Government Programmes, Joram Gumbo, has toured Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals to assess the progress of extensive renovations. He was briefed on revised timelines for the project’s completion due to the complexity of installing new, state-of-the-art medical equipment.

Accompanied by Harare Metropolitan Affairs and Devolution Minister Charles Tawengwa and Health Secretary Aspect Maunganidze, Gumbo inspected the ongoing works at both Mbuya Nehanda Maternity Hospital and the newly refurbished Adlam House nurses’ residence.

Following the tour, Gumbo addressed journalists, expressing satisfaction with the quality of work while acknowledging logistical challenges.

“We have learned there are some issues pertaining to the delivery of required equipment, which may take time,” he said.

“However, from the contractor’s point of view, they believe that if all goes well, they could finish by August this year.”

The primary contractor for the presidential hospital renovation programme at Parirenyatwa, Prevail Group, provided detailed updates to the visiting delegation.

Maunganidze, the Health Secretary, said that while Adlam House is more than 95% complete, the maternity wing is at a critical stage.

“In terms of Mbuya Nehanda Maternity Hospital, we are now looking at plus or minus 50%… The remainder involves equipment, ensuring that all facilities related to the walls, furniture, equipment and lifts are in place,” he said.

Prevail Group said the final phase, focusing on installing these sophisticated systems, is underway to deliver a world-class facility for Zimbabwean mothers and newborns.
