Residents live in fear as armed robbers rock Bulawayo

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. BULAWAYO residents are now living in fear after three separate armed robbery cases rocked the city on Wednesday this week.

The incidents, which occurred within a span of a few hours, left victims shaken and the police scrambling for leads.

Bulawayo acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu said a 34-year-old male adult resident of Nkulumane 12 was carjacked by two unknown armed men.

“The suspects, armed with pistols, fired shots into the air before making off with the victim’s vehicle, which contained cash and personal belongings worth a total of US$7 030,” Ndlovu said.

She said that later that evening, at around 8pm, a 37-year-old male adult was attacked by two masked men in his apartment in Bulawayo’s central business district.

“The suspects tied the victim’s hands and feet and stole US$5 000 and two cellphones.

In the third incident, which occurred at around 9pm on the same day, a security guard in Hillside was attacked by three armed men who forced their way into the house.

The suspects tied the guard’s hands and feet and stole approximately US$6 000,” Ndlovu said.

She appealed for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the stolen vehicle.

“The police are working tirelessly to investigate these incidents and ensure the safety of Bulawayo residents,” Ndlovu said.
