Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. PREPARATIONS for the Sanganani/Hlanganani Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo to be hosted in Manicaland province for the first time have gathered momentum.

Traditionally hosted in Bulawayo, the annual event brings together a wide mix of stakeholders including local and international exhibitors, dignitaries and travellers.

The expo will be held in Mutare from September 10 to 12.

Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution minister Misheck Mugadza early this week visited a key facility earmarked for the expo.

He was accompanied by property developer Esau Mupfumi as they toured a Leisure Centre, formerly known as Pick n Save, being renovated.

Mupfumi said they expected to finish the renovations by September 1.

“This is going to be a world-class facility which is going to benefit the city even after the expo,” he said.

Religious leaders said they were praying for the successful hosting of the event.

“My role as a church leader is to pray for the successful hosting of the event. This is an important event on the calendar of Manicaland,” the leader of Johanne The Fifth of Africa, Archbishop Andby Makururu, said.

He said his church would to host a national prayer before the event.

In an unrelated matter, the annual Chitungwiza business exchange expo roared into life yesterday.

The three-day event, being held at Chitungwiza Town Centre, ends tomorrow.

This year’s expo is running under the theme Monitoring and Evaluating Self Performance.

“This premier event aims to empower micro, small, medium and manufacturing enterprises by providing a platform for networking, knowledge exchange and business development,” Chitungwiza Publicity Association director and event executive Lexcy Mrewa said.

Mrewa said over 200 business enterprises would showcase various services and products.

At the exhibition, there will be business clinics offering expert advice and mentorship and networking sessions to facilitate collaborations among entrepreneurs.
