Tanganda Starts Selling Zumbani Tea

Africa-PressZimbabwe. Tanganda Tea Company has started selling Zumbani Tea. Zimbani is a herbal shrub that grows in some parts of Zimbabwe that is used by some to treat colds and flu.

Zumbani

(Lippia javanica) is a plant with aromatic leaves and has been used in Africa for generations for its medicinal properties. It is caffeine-free and contains some amounts of vital minerals such as copper, zinc and iron. It contains flavonoids and phenolic compounds which are water-soluble. These compounds possess antioxidant qualities, which are quite significantly higher than in rooibos tea. Also known as Fever tea (or , in the local Shona language), the Lemonbush is part of the Verbena family. Its fragrant leaves make a tasty herbal tea, and have long been consumed for their multiple health benefits

Zumbani became popular during the COVID-19 era as some people used it to manage the novel coronavirus, though there is no study that has been conducted to determine the effectiveness of the herb to manage the disease and there have not been any public success stories of people who used Zumbani and managed to get rid of COVID-19.

Tangana one of the country’s largest Tea Companies has probably made the decision to sell Zumbani based on the herb’s popularity over the last few months as the country was battling the pandemic’s second wave. Most informal traders have been selling packaged Zumbani on different social media platforms.
