Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The 19th Zanu PF Annual National People’s Conference is scheduled to start on Wednesday with a Politburo meeting at the party’s national headquarters in Harare.

A Central Committee meeting will be held the following day before proceedings move to Bindura for the main plenary.

The party’s President and First Secretary, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, will deliver the opening address on Friday before closing the indaba with another address the following day.

This year’s hybrid conference will witness provincial delegates following proceedings virtually at different venues countrywide, while the senior national leadership will congregate at the main venue in Bindura.

The conference is being held under the theme: “Growing and Modernising the Economy Towards Vision 2030”.

In an interview, Zanu PF director of information and publicity, Cde Tafadzwa Mugwadi, said all was in place for the indaba.

He said the the meeting will also focus on food security and nutrition, social services and poverty eradication, macroeconomic stability and re-engagement, inclusive growth and value addition.

Last year’s conference was cancelled on account of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The event comes amid reports of factionalism in the governing party with one Sybeth Musengezi having approached the courts, allegedly at Vice President Chiwenga’s command, challenging Mnangagwa’s presidency.
