Triple Murder Suspect Jaison Muvevi Brought To Court. Complains Of Ill-Treatment

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Jaison Muvevi, the triple murder suspect appeared at the Harare Magistrates court today to face trial.

The alleged murderer complained to the magistrate that he has been denied sleep by the ZRP officers. He also requested a lawyer, reported ZimLive.

“They added extra handcuffs and hung me from a bar (with the handcuffs)”

Muvevi was arrested in Mozambique on Monday, 16 January after being on the run for 3 days. He is alleged to have murdered 3 people in Wedza on Friday 13 January 2023, one of them a ZRP Officer in Charge for Wedza, Inspector Maxwell Hove.


He shot Hove during a shootout with the police after the officers responded to a murder he was accused of. Muvevi is himself a former ZRP officer but was now a gold dealer.

Ill-treatment and torture of suspects are against the law in Zimbabwe.
