Two Zimbabweans In Canada Die En Route To Jah Prayzah Show

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Two Zimbabweans based in Canada, Anotida Maziriri and Edmore Mafuwe, were killed in a car crash on 11 July 2025 while travelling to attend Jah Prayzah’s Ndini Mukudzeyi concert in Edmonton.

The accident occurred when the pair reportedly failed to negotiate a sharp bend, resulting in a fatal crash.

Both died on the spot, just hours before the Zimbabwean musician was set to perform in the city as part of the Canadian leg of his world tour.

Grieving families have since launched GoFundMe campaigns to raise funds for repatriating the bodies to Zimbabwe and covering funeral expenses.

Tinashe Mazibiye, who is coordinating the fundraiser for Edmore Mafuwe, said the aim is to give him a dignified burial in Zimbabwe. The campaign has so far raised CAD $4,494 towards a CAD $15,000 goal.

A separate fundraiser, titled In Loving Memory of Anotida, was launched by Aisher Magomo to support Maziriri’s family. Wrote Magomo:

We are heartbroken to share that our beloved daughter, sister, friend Anotida Kimbery Maziriri tragically passed away in a car accident on the night of July 11th 2025.

Anotida was a bright light in our lives—kind, loving, and deeply cherished. This sudden loss has left our family devastated.

We’re raising funds to help cover funeral costs and ease the financial burden during this difficult time. Any support is deeply appreciated.

As of late Sunday night, CAD $8,434 had been raised toward the CAD $15,000 target.
