Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. A Zimbabwean woman living in the UK, Dr Fortune Faith Gomo, was stabbed to death in a knife attack in a place called Dundee.
The incident apparently happened right in front her 10 year old daughter whom she was with.
According to reports Dr Gomo was attacked on Saturday late afternoon as she was walking with her daughter.
Dr Gomo, said to be in her 30s, was found seriously injured following the attack. She was treated by paramedics but died on the scene.
A 20 year old man is reported to have been arrested in connection with the murder. The identity of the attacker and the motive of the murder has not been revealed.
A spokesperson of Police Service of Scotland said:
“A 20-year-old man has been arrested after officers were called to the report that a woman in her 30s had been seriously injured in South Road around 4.25pm.”
“She was treated by paramedics, however she was pronounced dead at the scene.”
“Her family is aware and is being supported by specialist officers.”
Police also appealed to the public in the area who might have witnessed the attack to help with information.
Who was Dr Faith Gomo
Dr Gomo is reported to have recently graduated with her PhD from the University of Dundee. She was part of a Scottish Government programme called Hydro Nation Scholar.
Before her PhD research Gomo was involved in the research project Hydropower-to-environment-water-transfers in the Zambezi basin with UNESCO
Dr Gomo earned her a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science from the NUST in Zimbabwe, and her Masters in Water Management in the Netherlands.
