Africa-PressZimbabwe. Zimbabwe’s other Vice President, Kembo Mohadi, has left Harare for Guinea to attend the inauguration of the West African country’s President Alpha Conde.

Mohadi left Harare on Sunday for Conakry and will join other dignitaries from other nations who are expected to attend the inauguration of Conde on Tuesday.

Electoral authorities in Guinea declared Conde winner with 59.49% of the vote, defeating his main rival Cellou Diallo in the 18 October election.

Opposition candidate Diallo received 33.50% of the vote, the electoral commission said. Voter turnout was almost 80%.

However, there was violence in the West African country following the poll after Diallo claimed victory ahead of the official results.

Celebrations by his supporters were suppressed when security forces fired tear gas to disperse them.

More than nine people were killed soon after the election, with Diallo’s supporters accusing the electoral authorities of rigging the vote for incumbent President Alpha Conde.

Conde became Guinea’s first democratically elected leader in 2010 and won re-election in 2015.
