The Vice President, Retired General Dr Constantino DGN Chiwenga on Thursday launched in Mashonaland Central the launched the National Command Winter Wheat programme.
Vice President Chiwenga who is also the Chairperson of the Food and Nutrition Committee, was accompanied by the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement, Retired Air Chief Marshal Perrance Shiri, Permanent Secretary Dr. John Bhasera and representatives from other government ministries.
The delegation’s first port of call was Bindura where they toured FSG SuperFert Fertiliser Manufacturing Plant and later launched the distribution of the Command Winter Wheat Programme inputs to all Grain Marketing Board depots and collection points.
Later on, the Vice President later officiated during the launch the Command Winter Programme at Munatsi farm, owned by businessman and banker Douglas Munatsi in Matepatepa.
The Vice President Dr CDGN Chiwenga who is also the Chairman of the Food and Nutrition Committee led a delegation comprising the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement Hon Retired Air Chief Marshal Perrence Shiri, Permanent Secretary Dr. John Bhasera, representatives in the Ministries of Finance and Economic Development as well as Energy and Power Development.
Later the VP Hon Dr. CDGN Chiwenga later launched the Command Winter Programme at Munatsi farm in Matepatepa
The Vice President Hon Dr CDGN Chiwenga assured the nation that Zimbabwe will not be a food importer anymore as the government has put in place all mechanisms for the country to have enough harvests.
