ZEC Releases Results Of 22 October 2022 By-elections

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has released the results of by-elections held on the 22nd of October 2022 in Manicaland, Matabeleland South and Midlands Provinces. The notice seen by Pindula News notes that the ruling ZANU PF won five (5) seats out of six (6) that were up for grabs while the remaining one (1) was won by the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC). Dube Daniel (Male) ………………… 578 votes (ZANUPF)

Gumede Augustine (Male) ………. 415 votes (CCC)

Siwela Fadreck (Male) ……………. 934 votes (ZANU PF)

Ngwenya Sindiso (Male) ………… 270 votes (CCC)

Nyirongo Lberty (Male) …………. 25 votes (ZAPU)

Muzamba Joram (Male) …………. 692 votes (CCC)

Muzokomba Enest (Male) ……… 1265 votes (ZANU PF)

Murindashaka Blessing (Male) … 711 votes (CCC)

Chiwashira Loveness (Female) …. 478 votes (ZANU PF)

Machekeche Nyasha (Male) …….. 18 votes (NCA)

Dzingira Winny Netsai (Female) ….. 594 votes (ZANU PF)

Marevengwa Amos (Male) …………… 314 votes (CCC)

Chiguma Season (Male) …………………………….. 1135 votes (ZANU PF)

Kudyahakudadirwi Francis Wonder (Male) …. 114 votes (CCC)

The by-elections were preceded by reports of violence in Matabeleland South.

The opposition CCC led by Nelson Chamisa, a former Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services reported that its members and senior officials were attacked and injured by members of the ruling ZANU PF while campaigning ahead of the elections.
