ZIFA Mourns Passing Of Angirayi “Durawall” Chapo

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has paid tribute to former Dynamos captain and Warriors defender Angirayi “Durawall” Chapo, describing his death as a huge loss to the nation’s football community.

Chapo, remembered as one of the toughest defenders of his generation, died suddenly this week at his home in Mufakose. He was 59.

In a condolence message, ZIFA said Chapo was more than just a footballer, saying as Dynamos captain, he exemplified resilience, courage and leadership, inspiring both teammates and supporters. The message reads:

“The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) joins the entire football fraternity in mourning the sudden passing of Angirayi “Durawall” Chapo, a true icon of Zimbabwean football.

“His untimely departure is a painful loss to his family, friends, teammates, and to the wider football community across our nation.

“Durawall was more than just a player. As captain of Dynamos Football Club, he embodied resilience, courage, and leadership, inspiring those around him on and off the field.

“He was admired not only for his footballing excellence, but also for his humility, kindness, and deep connection to his community in Mufakose.

“In this moment of sorrow, ZIFA extends heartfelt condolences to the Chapo family and to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

“Though he has played his final match, the legacy he leaves behind, that of commitment, leadership, and an unbreakable spirit, will forever remain part of Zimbabwe’s football history.

“Angirayi “Durawall” Chapo will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on as a lasting source of inspiration.”
