Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. ZIMBABWE is participating in the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the implementation of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) follow-up actions.

The meeting, which brings together high-level representatives from across the African continent and Chinese government officials, is being held in China to assess progress and shape the 2025-27 FOCAC Action Plan.

Foreign Affairs and International Trade minister, Amon Murwira, emphasised Zimbabwe’s commitment to deepening co-operation with China through multilateral frameworks like FOCAC.

He described FOCAC as “a strategic platform for shared development and mutual benefit.”

“The FOCAC Action Plan 2025-27 is aligned with our national goals, particularly in areas of industrial growth, technology transfer and human capital development,” Murwira, who is leading the Zimbabwean delegation, said.

The action plan covers 10 strategic co-operation areas, which include trade prosperity, industrial and supply chain collaboration, connectivity infrastructure, green development, health, people-to-people exchanges and development cooperation.

Chinese Foreign minister Wang Yi underscored the significance of the meeting.

“Africa is not just a development partner; it is a partner in peace, innovation and global progress,” he said, adding that the action plan was “ambitious yet grounded in the realities of our joint aspirations.”

Murwira said projects supported under previous FOCAC commitments had yielded results in Zimbabwe’s education and technology sectors.

“The Zimbabwe-China Science and Technology Co-operation Programme is a tangible example of what targeted partnerships can deliver,” he said.

Zimbabwe’s delegation is expected to hold bilateral meetings on the margins of the forum to explore additional areas of co-operation.
