Daisy Mtukudzi, wife to the late music icon and national hero, Oliver Mtukudzi has broken the silence, speaking out for the first time since the death of her husband in January this year.
The late musician’s widow, Daisy presented an emotional speech during Oliver Mtukudzi’s posthumous 67th birthday celebrations held at Pakare Paye in Norton.
“It has not been an easy year for me since my husband passed on but I want to thank all of you by supporting and comforting my family,” she said.
Guest of honour, Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Senator Monica Mutsvangwa presented a touching speech describing the late music legend as an advocate for youth empowerment.
“I’m here as Monica mutsvangwa not as a minister, the late hero was a person who had visions of youth empowerment and he was caring husband who loved his wife,” she said.
Indian ambassador to Zimbabwe, Runsung Masakui, Norton legislator Themba Mliswa and Local musicians also spoke glowingly on the legacy left by Tuku.
“He was the Africa’s finest who left a legacy in the whole world,” they said.
Musicians who attended the event capped off the day’s proceedings with some exciting performances which left the crowd asking for more.
