Africa-Press – Angola. A total of 57,000 refugees and asylum seekers, mostly from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), live in various regions of Angola, according to data from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

According to the UNHCR, 17% entered the country in 2017, from Greater Kasai (DRC), across the borders with the province of Lunda Norte, due to the political and ethnic conflict registered, at the time, in the neighboring country.

The UNHCR document cited today also highlights that, in addition to DRC citizens, the group comprises Guinean, Ivorian, Mauritanian, Somali, Sudanese and Eritrean citizens, totaling 50,000 people who generally live in urban areas.
