Egypt is interested in strengthening cooperation with Angola in the field of training diplomatic cadres, so that the two countries can increasingly achieve greater representation in regional and international organisations, the ambassador said this Tuesday in Luanda. Mohamed Safwat was speaking in an interview, on the occasion of the visit to Angola of businessmen from his country, owners of 15 companies linked to the sectors of Engineering, Industry, Agriculture and Construction of metallic structures, to establish business partnerships.
He recalled that the strengthening of cooperation in the field of diplomatic training is included in the package of six agreements signed, in March of this year, in Cairo, between the two States, with the aim of increasing bilateral and friendly relations, which date back to Angola.
He said that these were the agreements signed between the Diplomatic Academy of Angola and the Diplomatic Institute of Egypt that aim to strengthen the cooperation of the two institutions in the training of diplomatic staff. Alongside this agreement, according to the Egyptian diplomat, an agreement was also signed for the exemption of visas in diplomatic passports, a bilateral commission was created and mechanisms for political consultation were established, in addition to contacts in the Sports sector.
“Bilateral and friendly relations between Angola and Egypt are excellent, and we have established several cooperation agreements, mainly in the areas of Training, Engineering, Agriculture, Industry, Tourism and Construction. In fact, since the 1960s we have supported and maintained bilateral relations with Angola, in particular, and with African countries, in general. We have also been working on viable policies within the framework of the African Union’s strategies”, he said.
International Organizations
The Egyptian ambassador to Angola informed that the two countries have been working to support their candidacies in regional and international organisations.
“In this area, we have seen that the two countries have supported the candidacies of one and the other. We have great admiration for the Angolan experience in this matter. Since 2017 we have seen changes in governance, which has contributed to the improvement of the management of public resources” , noticed.
In the Economic and Commercial sector, he said, there has been a strong interest from Egyptian investors in Angola, in various fields. He admitted that this is beneficial for the growth of the economy of both countries.
“Last week, we saw the presence of 15 Egyptian companies linked to the Engineering, Industry, Agriculture and metallic materials sectors interested in investing in Angola. The results are positive, because partnerships between Angolan and Egyptian companies were signed, which within four months will start importing products”, he added.
Mohamed Safwat also revealed that two companies expressed interest in setting up vehicle and bus industries. Another will set up a car battery factory and another will install a factory for the manufacture of equipment for metallic constructions.
