Africa-Press – Angola. The Under-18 National Basketball Pre-Selection worked, this Monday, for the first time, in a bi-daily session, with the complete group, in the Main Pavilion of Cidadela, in the projection of the African Championship of the category, taking place in 1st to 15th of August, in Antananarivo, Madagascar, selective for the World Cup.
During the preparation, which lasted two hours, the national coach, Apolinário Paquete, already had the integration of the winger Diabanza Manuel, who plays in the Clube de Amigos de Basquetebol de Benguela.
The execution of exercises to build defensive and offensive transitions, as well as ball circulation, passing, possession, dribbling and shooting exercises dominated the preparation.
During the preparation, Apolinário Paquete was quite interventionist. Sometimes correcting details, other times interrupting plays to exemplify how they should be done, the coach showed clear signs of being concerned with leaving the group at the best levels.
Meanwhile, Luís Costa, member of the board of the Angolan Basketball Federation (FAB), assured Jornal de Angola that the entity works hard in the execution of administrative processes.
“We are working hard, so that this Selection does not lack anything. At this moment, all the working conditions are created, so that the national team works without any problems. We are satisfied with these days of preparation, but the time has been the big opponent, although we have faith that, until the day of departure, we will be ready to compete”, he said.
The Junior Pre-Selection returns to training today, for two more sessions, at 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, in the same venue. Athletes who study in the morning participate in the afternoon session and vice versa.
