Africa-Press – Angola. The United States of America continues to support Angola’s efforts to eliminate corruption and hold those who have diverted the country’s resources to account, thereby increasing transparency and accountability.
The guarantee was given by Tulinabo S. Mushingi, US ambassador to Angola, when he was speaking during the commemorative ceremony, in Angola, of the 246th anniversary of his country’s independence.
Tulinabo S. Mushingi stated that the work that the US diplomatic representation with prosecutors, bankers, the Ministry of Finance and civil society is doing is aimed at helping to create a business environment that gives confidence to investors.
“This contributes to Angola achieving its objective of diversifying the economy and, more importantly, creating jobs for the Angolan people”, said the ambassador.
He also highlighted that, during two decades of bilateral cooperation, the two countries joined forces to fight malaria and HIV/AIDS. The donation of more than nine million doses of vaccine against Covid-19, as well as the investment of around US$25 million to ensure that the vaccine reached the largest possible number of Angolans constituted, in the ambassador’s view, an example of the support North American to Angola.
The partnership between the two countries in the fields of business, defense and health was also highlighted in the speech by Tulinabo S. Mushingi, which was the highlight of the ceremony, which was attended by members of the Government, the diplomatic corps accredited in Angola , representatives of political parties and civil society figures.
