Africa-Press – Angola. Sonangol’s Refining and Petrochemical Business Unit opens today the new Gasoline Production Complex at the Luanda Refinery.
The project started in June 2019 and had the technical support of ENI, in the supervision of engineering and construction.
Upon entry into operation, in addition to improving the quality of gasoline, the new complex will allow for a fourfold increase in production capacity, that is, from 395,000 to 1,580,000 liters per day, which will contribute to a reduction in of around 15 percent in annual fuel imports.
The complex will also bring several operational and environmental benefits, such as the increase in butane gas production, a considerable reduction in gaseous emissions from the use of hydrogen produced in the new complex, for the generation of electric energy in the combined cycle plant, generation of steam in the furnaces, among other gains.
The construction of this project is in line with the objective of increasing Angola’s refining capacity, which is part of the objectives of the National Development Plan 2018 – 2022, being implemented by the Angolan Executive.
