Considering the physical passing of the former President of the Republic of Angola José Eduardo dos Santos, which took place on July 8, 2022;
Bearing in mind that President JOSÉ EDUARDO DOS SANTOS was a unique figure in the Angolan homeland, to which he dedicated himself from an early age, having played a relevant role in the fight against colonization, in the conquest of National Independence, in the consolidation of the Angolan Nation, in its affirmation in the context of Nations, in the achievement of Peace and national reconstruction and reconciliation;
It is fitting to honorably honor his figure, his work, his achievements and his legacy at the service of the Angolan Nation;
The President of the Republic decrees, under the terms of paragraph m) of article 120, paragraph 4 of article 125 and paragraph a) of paragraph 4 of article 5 of Law nº 5/11, of 21 January, the following:
1. National mourning is declared to be observed throughout the national territory and in diplomatic and consular missions.
2. The national mourning referred to in the previous number lasts for 5 days and starts at 00:00 on July 9, 2022.
3. While national mourning is in force, the National Flag must be placed at half-mast and all shows and public demonstrations must be canceled.
