Africa-Press – Angola. The list of players to be called up between today or tomorrow, by the national coach, Josep “Pep” Clarós, should include five new faces in order to prepare for the dispute of the fourth FIBA window, to take place from 26 to 28 August, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
André Nsingue, Bamba Cissé, Francisco Gomes and Pedro Bengui, the latter from the French team at SIG Strasbourg, should be the new entries.
In search of qualification for the 19th edition of the 2023 World Cup, to be held from August 25th to September 10th, in three Asian countries, namely the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan, Clarós, wants to tell with the best athletes.
From the list of 21 players, Joel António, Ângelo Alexandre and Paulinho Bala can also be called up, all looking for their first cap.
Childe Dundão, Dimitri Maconda, Gerson Domingos, Gerson “Lukeny” Gonçalves, Jerónimo Luís, Leonel Paulo, António Monteiro, João Fernandes, Jilson Martins, Teotónio Dó, Jilson Bango, Sílvio Sousa and Aboubakar Gakou, should complete the list.
Angola will play the penultimate stage of qualifying for the World Cup, in Group E, against Cape Verde, Nigeria and Uganda.
The first challenge is scheduled for the 26th of next month, against Uganda. The second, on the 27th, will be against Cape Verde. The last one, at 28, is against Nigeria. All matches will be played in the city of Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, in the Pavilion of the Palace of Sports in Treichville.
