Africa-Press – Angola. Fifty TPA professionals concluded, this Tuesday, in Huambo province, a training cycle on the right and duty to vote, within the preparation of coverage of the General Elections, with the assistance of specialists from the Constitutional Court.
The training, which took place under the slogan of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) “Vote for Peace, Democracy and Development”, aimed to improve the quality of information for professionals in electoral matters.
The acting director of the (TPA) in Huambo, Israel Chitali Chissingui, said that he is pleased to see that the journalistic class is observing a very positive political evolution, as a result of the constitutional reality and the strategy that the country has adopted.
He added that it was imperative, taking into account the dynamics of operations linked to the process of organizing the elections, that the institutions directly and indirectly involved proceed in a democratic and peaceful manner, seeking to carry out the work in the best possible way. “With this I mean, specifically, for our journalistic class, where the demand is even greater, it must be guided by an exemplary exercise, based on informative rigor”, underlined Israel Chitali.
He referred that it is essential that, through freedom of expression, the journalistic exercise is carried out with transparency, impartiality and in an active manner. The media, as means that convey essential information to society, must provide professionals with sufficient conditions to carry out “good electoral coverage”.
Israel Chitali recalled that when looking at the 2022 General Elections, from the perspective of “Vote for Peace, Democracy and Development”, one should only hope that the work of the Media is based on the dissemination of positive information, which translates, in practice, the CNE’s view.
