Africa-Press – Angola. The senior women’s football team, which between the end of this month and the beginning of September will participate in the Cosafa Cup, to be held in Port Elizabeth (South Africa), returns to work this afternoon at Cidadela Stadium.
After the rest verified yesterday, the players, under the baton of the technicians Sousa Garcia and Maninho Loide, will carry out work to restore the physical condition, which will be followed by the exercise of aspects in the technical and tactical environment.
At the end of last week, the players, divided into groups, played a game with each other in which the coaches observed individual and collective movement on the field.
This was another opportunity for, in the coming days, the technical team to define the game scheme that they will use in the competition, with the players who will deserve confidence.
Marlene Ponda, from 1º de Agosto, is the only one who has attended training sitting on the bench, facing problems with amyloidosis, but, according to the clinical staff, she is already in the recovery phase, and may return to work soon.
In the previous edition of the Cosafa Cup, Angola, part of the A series, occupied third place with two points, behind Malawi, in second place, with six. The representation of Mozambique was the “red lantern”, with a dot.
The selection focused a week ago with a group in which, without neglecting the others, the highlights go to nine players from teams from the interior of the country, at a time when coach Sousa Garcia praised the notes he took from many of them in the tournament interprovincial disputed in Lubango.
“We will have competitiveness among the athletes who are part of the pre-call, it is a good challenge and we will take advantage of what we saw during the tournament to polish them in the selection”, he said at the time.
