Party promises to improve public service

Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA’s Secretary for Information and Propaganda said, Thursday (25), when he was reacting to the provisional results of the General Elections, released by the CNE, that the projections are encouraging, and allow to continue to govern with tranquility, admitting to improve the provision of public service.

Rui Falcão referred that the MPLA will redirect some actions, to reverse the situation. “The MPLA is calm, we had a clean campaign, the best of the five elections, we had no major problems, the people wanted it that way”, he said, adding that “we have already guided the militants to remain calm and not to react to any provocation, because , he stressed, “we are not the ones who dictate the results, it is the CNE”.

Regarding the crushing defeat in Luanda, the country’s largest electoral square, Rui Falcão acknowledged that it leaves a bitter taste, because the intention was to win with 98 percent, stressing that “the people decide, and the MPLA respects this right to choice”.

“Youth has nothing to do with this, because the level of abstention was extremely high and penalizes those who are always in the exercise of political power”, he underlined. The MPLA’s Secretary for Information and Propaganda added that “it is necessary to reflect to know where we were efficient, and where we were not, to correct what is wrong, emphasizing that this is the purpose for the coming times”.

On the loss of deputies in traditional party squares, Rui Falcão justified that this is the fruit of democracy, justifying it as another lesson that everyone should learn. “We are humble enough to recognize how much the people have done for the MPLA,” he stressed.

Despite having lost deputies in some provinces, Rui Falcão said that the party does not lose strength, because it will govern with an absolute majority. “Most democratic countries are governed by an absolute majority, we were one of the exceptions and we were governing with a qualified majority. The people wanted us to have an absolute majority, we are going to govern with it. The popular will prevailed” , said.

In this way, the MPLA’s Secretary for Information and Propaganda, Rui Falcão, stated that it is now up to a careful reading of everything that has happened, of the journey made during the five years, and, as a result, to redirect some actions and improve the provision of public services in the next legislation.

Regarding the complaints about the provisional results released by the CNE, by other competing forces, he clarified that the MPLA is a player, and not a referee, for this reason, he continued, the complaints must be presented with evidence and to those who have the competence to do so, which is the CNE.
