Africa-Press – Angola. The Border Guard Police in Lunda-Norte prevented an attempt to illegally enter Angola by 780 citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo on voting day (24 August).
The information was provided, Saturday, by the head of the Provincial Department of the Institutional Communication and Press Office of the National Police, Domingos Muanafuma, stressing that the immigrants, accompanied by 92 children, were stopped at the Chissanda border post. He added that the illegal entry attempt of immigrants was stopped due to a complaint.
He appealed to the population to continue to collaborate with the authorities, denouncing, above all, the aid to illegal immigration.
The border posts in Lunda-Norte were reopened in July of the current year, after being closed in March 2020, due to Covid-19.
The province of Lunda-Norte shares a border of about 770 kilometers in length with the DRC.
