Africa-Press – Angola. The Brazilian government on Monday congratulated the re-elected President of Angola, João Lourenço, on his victory in the General Elections held on 24 August.

“The Brazilian Government congratulates the re-elected President, João Lourenço, for his victory in the election held on August 24, whose final results were released this Monday afternoon by the National Electoral Council of Angola”, reads a note released by the Itamaraty.

The Brazilian diplomacy also added that the country “renews its commitment to advancing the Strategic Partnership with Angola”, a strong investment portfolio, estimated at 1.7 billion euros, in areas ranging from energy to agro-industry, through pharmaceuticals, construction and tourism.

The MPLA obtained 3,209,429 votes, or 51.17%, electing 124 deputies, and UNITA won 2,756,786 votes, guaranteeing 90 deputies, with 43.95% of the total.
