Africa-Press – Angola. This Tuesday, the Brazilian Government congratulated João Lourenço on his re-election as President of the Republic, in the General Elections of 24 August, whose final results were released on Monday, 29, by the National Electoral Commission (CNE).
In a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoted by Angop, the Government of that Portuguese-speaking country renews its commitment to advance the Strategic Partnership with Angola, in favor of the development of both nations.
According to the final results, the MPLA won the election with 51.17 percent of the votes, confirming the re-election of its candidate, João Lourenço.
The ruling party won three million, 209,429 votes, electing 124 deputies to the National Assembly (AN). The final data, released on Monday, 29, by the president of the National Electoral Commission (CNE), Manuel Pereira da Silva, give UNITA 2,756,786 votes, corresponding to 43.9 percent of the votes. With this result, the largest opposition party elected 90 deputies.
The PRS, with 71,351 votes, had 1.14 percent and elected two deputies. Then come the FNLA with 1.06 percent (with two deputies) and, surprisingly, the newcomer PHA, with 1.02 percent (also with two deputies).
CASA-CE, with 0.76 percent (47,446 votes) did not get any deputy, as did the APN, with 0.4 percent (30,139 votes) and P-NJANGO with 0.42 percent (26,867 votes) .
