Africa-Press – Angola. The South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, this Tuesday congratulated João Lourenço on his re-election as President of the Republic, considering that the result of the General Elections reflects the confidence that the Angolan people place “in him”.

The South African Presidency states that Ramaphosa “sent its warmest and most sincere congratulations to President João Lourenço and the people of the Republic of Angola for their re-election”.

“I look forward to working with President João Lourenço to strengthen the strong and cordial bilateral relations between our two countries, as well as in matters of mutual interest on the African continent and in our region, the Southern African Development Community (SADC)” , added the South African Head of State.

Cyril Ramaphosa considered, according to the communiqué of the South African Presidency, that the General Elections of 24 August took place “in a calm environment, in which the people of Angola exercised their democratic right to elect a Government of their choice”.

The South African Head of State was in Luanda on Sunday, where he participated in the funeral ceremonies of former Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos.
