Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA’s second provincial secretary in Benguela, António Kaliyanguila, defended, in Lobito, cohesion and solidarity in the party’s structure, as a way of overcoming the next political challenges, which necessarily involve promoting the well-being of citizens.
During the closing speech of the Fifth Extraordinary Municipal Conference of the party held on Saturday, 15th, and which elected Evaristo Mário, first secretary of the local committee, the politician said that the MPLA continues to gain popular acceptance in this territorial portion of the province, which is why it will be up to the militants and sympathizers to preserve such conquests.
For him, the results achieved in the last election do not express the will of the majority, but social phenomena associated with the global economic crisis that have directly affected the lives of citizens. He maintained that, in the face of this, many, including party militants, were inhibited from exercising their right to vote, which may have had a negative influence on electoral results.
“Notwithstanding this, we are absolutely certain that the Lobito electoral square continues to be dominated by the MPLA. It is in this perspective that we hope to overcome the great political challenges”, he said.
