The Angolan Executive outlined, for the five-year period 2022-2027, several axes, such as the development of human capital, with the expansion and improvement of health services, increasing knowledge and technical and scientific skills, promoting culture and sport, as well as stimulating entrepreneurship and education, said the governor of Bengo.
Maria Antónia Nelumba was speaking, Friday, at the opening of the Academic Year 2022/23, at the Escola Superior Pedagógica do Bengo (ESPB), said that the expansion of services will allow the scientific and technological skills of citizens to increase in quantity and quality, responding thus the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
The need to carry out a revolution in qualifications driven by Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, identifying strategies that should be followed by countries, such as expanding the school and preschool network, increasing the number of qualified teachers at all levels of education and making technical and vocational education more accessible to women, ensuring more qualified technicians for the job market are some of the items described in the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
At ESPB, the Academic Year 2022/23 will have 425 new students. In this way, the institution, created on 12 May 2009, by Decree no 7 of the Council of Ministers, increases the universe of 2,189 trainees, in degree courses in the areas of Mathematics Teaching, Informatics, Portuguese Language, History and Primary Education .
“Soon, the institution will have two postgraduate courses in Educational Technologies and Psycho-Pedagogy, which will last two years”, informed the director general of ESPB, Teresa da Costa, adding that 60 places will be available, being 30 for each course.
In the event that took place under the motto “For a more inclusive teacher training, we promote social development”, Teresa da Costa announced the holding, between 25 and 26 May 2023, of the IV International Conference on University Extension and the I Edition of the Technological and Pedagogical Innovation Fair. During the ceremony, marked by cultural activities and the baptism of freshmen, the representative of the ESPB Students’ Association, António de Oliveira, appealed to teachers to adopt a philosophy of transversal education, which reflect on the model of teachers they wish to train.
In the same line of thought, freshmen Domingas Viegas, Aida Magalhães and Domingos António told Jornal de Angola that they hope to receive decent training at the institution.
