Humpata Harvests 40 Tons of Christmas Pears

Africa-Press – Angola. Forty tons of Christmas pears were harvested in the municipality of Humpata, southern Huíla Province, during a campaign that took place from November to December of this year.

The information was passed on Monday by the director of the Municipal Office of Agriculture, Farming and Fisheries of Humpata, Flora Fernandes, who announced a growth of 10 tons.

According to her, the Experimental Station was the largest producer in the current campaign, with an estimated harvest of 10 tons.

She explained that although the Christmas pear is a small crop, production is ensured by 150 local producers, each with an average of two to five hectares in their agricultural spaces, which demonstrates the significant involvement of families in the diversification of fruit production.

The official emphasized that the increased harvest is a result of the efforts of local authorities in providing technical support to producers, as well as the specific weather conditions experienced during the campaign.
