Role of the nation's founder addressed in Botswana

Africa-Press – Angola. A lecture on the “role that the founder of the nation Agostinho Neto played in the genesis and construction of SADC and the importance of the SADC Policy, Defense and Security body in guaranteeing regional stability” was held yesterday in Gaborone, Botswana.

It took place within the scope of activities alluding to the 47th anniversary of National Independence, which is celebrated on 11 November. The speaker was Jorge Cardoso, director of the SADC Policy, Defense and Security Organ.

During the lecture, Jorge Cardoso highlighted the role that António Agostinho Neto had from the Independence of Angola to the liberation of Southern Africa, which culminated in the Independence of Zimbabwe, Namibia and the end of apartheid in South Africa.

The event was attended by Ambassador Beatriz Morais, diplomats from the Mission in Botswana, the Ministry of Defense and Angolan officials in SADC.
